Campaigns Training
The MRSN Forum has designed a package of campaigns training and support for refugee community organisations (RCOs) in Greater Manchester. This training will be available either at your office or at MRSN and will cover how to plan and carry out a campaign, including: planning and strategy, how to build a relationship with your MP, how to present your arguments, how to influence parliament and local government and the different tactics you can use to achieve the goal of your campaign.
Each year the MRSN Forum also runs a Community Leadership Training Programme for RCO members and individuals who are committed to working together to achieve change in their communities.
The first Community Leadership programme was run in January 2005 and led to the launch of the Refugee Charter for Manchester. Since the launch of the Charter the Forum has gone from strength to strength, tackling concerns such as the right to work, reporting and detention at Dallas Court Reporting Centre and access to free ESOL classes.
The last programme was very successful, with 14 refugee leaders completing the training. A new programme will begin in June 2011, if you are interested please send an email to forum@mrsn.org.uk
